USDA: Emerald Ash Borer “It likely arrived in the United States hidden in wood packing materials commonly used to ship consumer goods, auto parts and other products. The first official U.S. identification of Emerald Ash Borer was in southeastern Michigan in 2002. It is especially dangerous because there is no known treatment for Emerald Ash Borer infestations – trees must be felled and the wood disposed of through approved means.”
