Police handling of Sexual Assaults in Missoula/ Fires


“The U.S. Department of Justice and the City of Missoula announced an agreement on Wednesday, May 15, that ends the year-long investigation of the Missoula Police Department’s handling of sexual assault cases.
Mayor John Engen and Police Chief Mark Muir participated in a telephone news conference with representatives of the U.S. Department of Justice, in which they agreed to implement and revise policies to ensure that sexual assault cases are handled fairly and effectively. Deputy Assistant Attorney General Roy L. Austin Jr. praised Mayor Engen and Chief Muir for their cooperation and leadership in a genuine effort to ensure that Missoula is a model community in protecting women’s safety and rights. “

Fires/ Milk/ Food Stamps



(1) When 12 days or more have passed following pasteurization of a unit of grade A milk, there will be no quantities of that unit of milk sold or otherwise offered for public consumption.
(2) No grade A pasteurized milk may be put in any container marked with a sell-by date which is more than 12 days after pasteurization of the milk for sale in Montana.
(3) Unless otherwise agreed upon, the person who offers the milk for sale to the public is responsible for removing the milk at or before the expiration of the 12 days.

Fire Season Outlook/ Greenhouse Gases/ Drunk Driving Deaths

Officials emphasize interagency partnership, public awareness as keys to protecting communities from wildfire
 BOISE, ID – May 13, 2013 – During a visit to the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) in Boise, Idaho today, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and Interior Secretary Sally Jewell outlined the Federal Government's efforts to ensure collaboration in protecting Americans from wildfire, and urged homeowners and local communities to take steps to reduce their risks during the 2013 fire season. The outlook for the fire season is severe across much of the Western United States.



“Item 1: The Board will consider its safety report, "Reaching Zero: Actions to Eliminate Alcohol-Impaired Driving.” The report describes the scope of the impaired-driving problem, summarizes previous and current efforts to reduce impaired-driving crashes, and includes safety recommendations to address impaired driving. Eliminate substance-impaired driving is on the NTSB's Most Wanted List.”
