Fire/ Illegal Fish/ Wild Places/ Health Care/ Drones/ Buffalo

Lost Horse
“The lightning caused Lost Horse fire is located ten miles southwest of Hamilton in the Bitterroot Mountains near Brandy Peak. It was discovered July 25 at approximately 4:00PM. The fire is burning in extremely steep and rugged terrain, near the top of the ridge - making it inaccessible on foot for firefighters and preventing helicopters and rappellers (from helicopters) from being able to safely land and access the fire. Terrain includes steep cliffs, rock outcroppings, screes, and boulder fields with rocks the size of vehicles. Even if firefighters could access the remote location, they cannot dig fire line through rocks weighing several tons.”

FWP Roadside Check Stations Find Illegal Live Fish in Boats
“Watercraft inspection stations at Coram, Ronan and Thompson Falls in northwestern Montana; at Wolf Creek north of Helena; and at Hardin south of Billings have turned up more than 58 live fish in water-filled tanks used on a variety of fishing boats to keep bait and caught fish alive. Fish found being transported on Montana roads in boat "live wells" included yellow perch, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, northern pike and walleye.”
